Why the move is locked
Before you throw, the AI has already picked its move. It turns that pick into a fingerprint — the string of letters and numbers below — and shows it to you first.
After the round, this page opens the move, rebuilds the fingerprint from scratch and checks the two match. Changing the move by a single letter would scramble the fingerprint completely. The ✓ or ✗ below is that check, run just now.
What this shows: the sealed choice did not change after you threw.
What it does not show: that the choice was a fair one. There is no referee — since this game stopped using a server, the opponent and the checker are both this browser, and anyone who can edit the page can edit both. Treat it as a working demonstration of commit-and-reveal, not as a guarantee.

What the modes do
These change what the AI does with a read, not how hard it tries to read you. The prediction runs at full strength in all three.
Dominate — plays the move that beats what it expects. No handicap.
Level — steers toward a tied score. When it is ahead it will draw or lose rounds on purpose to let you back in. Open Foresight and it stops steering rather than escalate against someone who can see its hand.
Yield — once its read is strong enough, it deliberately plays the move yours beats. The better it knows you, the more easily you win. On a weak read it holds instead, rather than throwing at random into a loss.
So Dominate is a match, Level is a sparring partner, and Yield is an opponent that folds as soon as it is sure.

Reading these numbers
AI read rate is how often it correctly guessed your next throw. The number to compare it against is 33%, not 50% — with three moves, blind guessing is right one time in three.
So above 33% means it has genuinely found a pattern in how you play. At or below it, you are being unpredictable enough that its memory is not buying it anything. That is the line drawn across the chart.
Early rounds are left out of this. The AI throws at random until it has enough memories to search, and counting those as correct guesses would flatter the number.
Read rate is not the score. In Dominate a good read usually becomes a win — but in Level or Yield the AI may draw or lose the round on purpose, so you can be well ahead on points while it still reads you accurately.
Want an easy win? Flip the instrument to Foresight. It shows the sealed move before you throw, and looking does not change it.

How it reads you
After every round it writes a short code for the situation — your recent throws, its own, any streak, who won the last few, and how often you have played each move. Deliberately not a sentence. A dense note.
That note becomes a fixed list of 55 numbers. Situations that resemble each other end up with similar lists. Before your next throw it writes the note for right now, finds the closest notes in this browser's memory, and looks at what you played next in each one.
Closer and more recent memories count for more. The move that keeps winning that vote is its read. What it then does with that read — counter it, mirror it, or lose to it on purpose — is up to the mode.
It is not reasoning about rock, paper and scissors. It is asking “when things looked like this before, what did this person do next?”Which is why a brand-new browser gets random throws until the memory has enough in it to search — those blind rounds are still recorded, and they are how the map fills in. Come back later and it starts reading you from the very first throw, because “this person is opening a fresh session” is itself a situation it has seen before.
